Asplenium Care.
To water
The Asplenium thrives in slightly moist soil, so you can water it quite generously. Water it about twice a week in summer and once a week in winter. Give it small amounts of water to prevent it from sitting in a layer of water. Ideally, pour the water directly onto the soil or down the side of the pot; don't pour it into the center of the plant. If this remains wet for too long, your plant may become bare. This plant prefers rainwater at room temperature, but the bird's nest fern will also tolerate lukewarm tap water. It doesn't appreciate cold water.
Humidity
This plant thrives in high humidity, so it's important to mist it frequently. Ideally, at least once a week, and even more often in winter. For watering, use rainwater or decalcified water, and allow it to warm to room temperature.
Extra plant food
The Asplenium appreciates some extra plant food to help it grow well. Fertilize the fern from April to September by adding some extra plant food once or twice a month. Use about half the recommended dose on the fertilizer package. Don't overfeed, as this can be harmful to your plant. The plant doesn't need extra feeding in autumn and winter.
Where do I put my plant?
The bird's nest fern prefers a spot with plenty of indirect sunlight or partial shade. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as this can burn the leaves. Suitable locations are approximately 4 meters from a south-facing window or about 2 meters from a west- or east-facing window. A north-facing window is also suitable, but in that case, place it directly in front of the window.
