To water
Water the fan palm about once a week in summer and about every two weeks in winter. Make sure the soil never dries out completely and that there's no water pooling at the bottom of the pot. Check regularly that the soil isn't too wet or too dry. You can do this by poking your fingers into the soil. If the soil is very dry after a few days, give it a little more water. If the soil is still very moist, give the plant a little less water.
Humidity
The fan palm prefers high humidity. You can maintain the humidity by placing a bowl of water next to the plant or regularly misting it with rainwater from a plant sprayer.
Extra plant food
Once you receive your plant, it won't need any feeding for the next two months. It can still get enough nutrients from the grower's potting soil. After that, it will need plant food every other week during the growing season (spring and summer). Check carefully how much plant food you need and don't use more than the recommended amount.

Place the plant in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight. This can lead to leaf burn. Once you've found a spot for your fan palm, it's best not to move it again. It takes a lot of energy for the plant to adjust to its new location. Don't place the plant too close to a radiator, as humidity is very low there.
